Algae

Algae are a diverse group of aquatic, non-vascular plants. They are typically unicellular but can form large colonies. Algae come in many forms including phytoplankton, seaweed and pond scum. Despite their microscopic size, algae play important roles in most ecosystems, though they can be quite the nuisance in fish tanks and aquariums!
